This time is going to be different.

12 years ago today, I made the decision to change my life.

I will never forget the work event that changed it all for me. A work event where we were asked to write down our top 10 accomplishments and disappointments for 2012. I was embarrassed that I couldn’t think of any accomplishments, yet had a long list of disappointments.

I went home that night and studied those disappointments until I noticed a clear parallel to my lack of confidence, my health and insecurities.

You see, I had gained about 80 pounds after graduating college. I allowed excuses to rule my life and I was so uncomfortable in my own skin. I was unhealthy and winded at the slightest activity.

I had an ah-ha moment: “Whatever you aren’t CHANGING, you are CHOOSING.”.

It gave me chills and I knew in that moment, it was time. I decided to start that day and promised I wouldn’t give up. No. Matter. What.

Even when I didn’t see progress, I showed up.
Even when I was tired, I showed up.
Even when I had doubts, I showed up.

12 years later...and I am still showing up.

My best advice? Make sure you are choosing your life. Make sure you are making choices that align with how you want to feel. We only have one body and one life - and trust me, it is way too short to not love every second of it! You are never too old or too far gone to change.

You are one decision away from an entirely different life. Choose wisely.
